How Smartphones Harm Our Sleep

sleep vs smartphones

Remember as a kid, secretly reading under the blanket with the flashlight on? Just so, that mom and dad wouldn’t find out? The modern equivalent of that are our beloved smartphones, tablets and notebooks.

And we’re no longer restricted to comics, books or magazines. We can watch our favorite show and share it with friends while snuggling into our pillow. There’s also no need for a flashlight anymore as it comes built-in – but it comes at a price.

Our little gadgets, as much joy as they might bring, can cost us our sleep. They keep us awake and their blue light emission hinders our brain in producing melatonin. This results in a messed up sleep cycle and restless nights.

On the technical side there already comes a solution in the form of special apps, that reduce blue light emission on-screen. But if you want to do it the classic way, you might want to consider grabbing a good old book again.
